2. Learn everything you can before you make the leap.

There are a million different places to look for information.  Choose your way well.  Forums are a great way to get started.  You don’t even have to say anything at first.  Just watch and see what people are doing.  If you don’t know what they’re talking about, look it up.

Words like SEO, RSS feed, metatags, CPA, and attraction v. blackhat v. whitehat marketing get confusing.  You’ll need to familiarize yourself with these terms to get the most out of your home based business (even if you have someone else do your SEO for you).

3. Don’t get swindled into thinking starting an online business doesn’t take work.

These are not get-rich-quick schemes.  Sure, you have an opportunity to become wealthy, but if someone is telling you that you’ll get-rich-quick – be wary.

4. Never stop promoting your business.

You’ll have to constantly monitor your home based business.  Update it with new material.  If you’re working the social network, it takes, at the very least, weekly upkeep. Daily is advisable.
